2. Agreement to Terms
By booking a hypnotherapy session, using this website, or engaging with our services in any way, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you must not use our services.
These terms constitute a legally binding agreement between you and Taylored Hypnotherapy.
3. Nature of Hypnotherapy Services
3.1 Services Provided
We provide Solution Focused Clinical Hypnotherapy services for various conditions including:
- Anxiety and stress management
- Depression and low mood
- Confidence and self-esteem issues
- Weight management
- Smoking cessation
- Sleep disorders
- Phobias and fears
- Pain management (alongside medical treatment)
- Performance enhancement
3.2 Regulatory Status
Important: Hypnotherapy is not regulated by statute in the UK. However, we operate according to the professional standards and codes of ethics of the National Council for Hypnotherapy (NCH) and Association for Solution Focused Hypnotherapy (AfSFH).
3.3 Complementary Healthcare
Hypnotherapy is a complementary therapy that works alongside, but does not replace, conventional medical or psychological treatment. You should not discontinue any medical treatment or medication without consulting your healthcare provider.
4. Eligibility and Suitability Assessment
4.1 Age Requirements
- Under 13: Not suitable for hypnotherapy services
- 13-15 years: Requires parent/guardian consent and attendance
- 16-17 years: Can consent to treatment but parental involvement encouraged
- 18+ years: Can provide full consent independently
4.2 Medical Conditions
Hypnotherapy may not be suitable if you have:
- Active psychosis or severe mental health conditions
- Epilepsy or seizure disorders (recent or uncontrolled)
- Severe heart conditions
- Dementia or severe cognitive impairment
- Active substance abuse disorders
We conduct a thorough assessment during initial consultation to ensure suitability and may request GP clearance if necessary.
5. Booking and Appointments
5.1 Booking Process
- Initial consultation (30 minutes) - typically free for new clients
- Appointments can be booked via website, email, or phone
- Online and in-person sessions available
- Full sessions typically last 60-90 minutes
- We recommend 4-12 sessions for most conditions
5.2 Cancellation and Rescheduling Policy
- 48 hours notice: Full refund or free rescheduling
- 24-48 hours notice: 50% cancellation fee
- Less than 24 hours: Full session fee payable
- No-shows: Full session fee charged
- Emergency exceptions: Medical emergencies, bereavement, or severe weather may be considered
5.3 Our Right to Cancel
We reserve the right to cancel sessions if:
- You arrive under the influence of alcohol or substances
- You display aggressive or inappropriate behaviour
- There are safety concerns for you or our staff
- Your condition requires immediate medical attention
6. Fees and Payment
6.1 Pricing Structure
- Session fees are displayed on our website and confirmed at booking
- Prices may be reviewed annually
- Special packages and concessions may be available
- VAT is not charged (services qualify for healthcare exemption)
6.2 Payment Terms
- Payment is due at the time of service or as per agreed payment plan
- Accepted payment methods: cash, bank transfer, major debit/credit cards
- Package deals must be used within 12 months of purchase
- Unused sessions in packages are non-refundable after 30 days
- Student and senior discounts available (proof of eligibility required)
6.3 Refunds
- Single sessions: Refundable with 48+ hours notice
- Package deals: Partially refundable within first 30 days
- Exceptional circumstances will be considered on a case-by-case basis
- Refunds processed within 14 days of approval
7. Client Responsibilities and Informed Consent
7.1 Pre-Treatment Responsibilities
As a client, you agree to:
- Provide complete and accurate information about your health, medical history, and medications
- Inform us of any mental health diagnoses, treatments, or hospitalizations
- Disclose any substance use or abuse issues
- Inform us if you are pregnant or trying to become pregnant
- Provide GP contact details and consent for communication if necessary
7.2 During Treatment
- Arrive punctually for appointments (5-10 minutes early for first session)
- Inform us immediately of any changes to your health or medication
- Participate actively and honestly in the therapeutic process
- Report any concerns, discomfort, or side effects immediately
- Maintain appropriate boundaries and professional conduct
- Switch off mobile phones and other devices during sessions
7.3 Between Sessions
- Practice self-hypnosis and relaxation techniques as recommended
- Complete any agreed homework or exercises
- Continue with prescribed medical treatments
- Contact us if you experience any issues between sessions
7.4 Informed Consent
By engaging our services, you acknowledge that you understand:
- Hypnotherapy involves entering a relaxed, focused state of consciousness
- You remain in control and aware throughout the session
- Results vary between individuals and cannot be guaranteed
- The therapeutic process may bring up emotional responses
- You have the right to end the session or treatment at any time
8. Confidentiality and Information Sharing

All information shared during sessions is strictly confidential and protected under our professional codes of ethics. We maintain detailed records in secure storage and follow data protection laws.
8.2 Exceptions to Confidentiality (Safeguarding)
We have a legal and ethical duty to break confidentiality in the following circumstances:
- Risk of harm to yourself: If you express serious suicidal intentions or plans
- Risk of harm to others: If you threaten violence against specific individuals

12. Online and Remote Sessions
12.1 Technical Requirements
For online hypnotherapy sessions, you must have:
- Stable, high-speed internet connection
- Device with camera and microphone (laptop/tablet preferred)
- Quiet, private space where you won't be disturbed
- Comfortable seating (not a bed)
- Good lighting and minimal background noise
12.2 Client Responsibilities for Online Sessions
- Test your technology before the session
- Have a backup communication method (phone) available
- Inform household members not to interrupt
- Ensure you are in a safe, comfortable environment
- Have water available
12.3 Limitations and Technical Issues
- Technical problems may occasionally disrupt sessions
- Some techniques may be more effective in person
- We are not responsible for internet/technology failures
- Sessions may be rescheduled due to technical difficulties
13. Intellectual Property and Recordings
13.1 Session Recordings
- Audio recordings of your hypnosis sessions are for your personal use only
- You may not share, distribute, or reproduce recordings
- Recordings remain our intellectual property
- You may request copies of recordings within 30 days of the session
13.2 Materials and Resources
- All worksheets, handouts, and resources are for personal use
- Commercial use or distribution is prohibited
- Copyright remains with Taylored Hypnotherapy
14. Professional Boundaries
14.1 Therapeutic Relationship
- Our relationship is strictly professional and therapeutic
- No dual relationships (social, business, or personal) are permitted
- Gift exchanges are not appropriate (small tokens of appreciation accepted)
- Contact outside sessions should be for administrative purposes only
14.2 Social Media and Contact
- We do not accept friend requests on personal social media
- Professional LinkedIn connections are acceptable
- Contact us only through official channels (email, phone, website)
15. Limitation of Liability
15.1 Insurance Coverage
We maintain comprehensive professional indemnity insurance (£6 million). Our liability is limited to the value of services provided unless proven negligent.
15.2 Excluded Liability
We are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Loss of income or business
- Decisions made based on improved confidence or wellbeing
- Outcomes of other treatments or interventions
- Results that don't meet your expectations

19. Termination of Services
19.1 Client Termination
You may end therapy at any time by giving written notice. Unused package sessions may be refunded at our discretion within 30 days.
19.2 Therapist Termination
We may terminate our therapeutic relationship if:
- You consistently miss appointments without notice
- You display inappropriate or threatening behaviour
- Your condition requires specialist medical intervention
- There are irreconcilable differences in therapeutic approach
- You fail to pay for services
20. Legal Framework and Jurisdiction
20.1 Governing Law
These terms are governed by Scottish law and the laws of the United Kingdom. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of Scottish courts.
20.2 Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect.
20.3 Entire Agreement
These terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Taylored Hypnotherapy.
